Hello. My name is Susie Sidsworth. While a person can feel better after a coffee session with a friend, for moderate or severe emotional distress, this relief is only temporary. Talking with a trained listener helps alleviate emotional distress for good- although a thereputic the cup of coffee should still be included! I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) and I have  an MA in Counselling Psychology. I am a member of the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors and I maintain professional membership in the CCPA- the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association, I am trained to listen and interact in a way that helps you get to the very root of your emotional concerns. I adhere to the strictest code of professional ethics when dealing with confidential client information.

My role as a counselor is to empower clients. People feel empowered to make changes in their lives when they recognize the patterns they have established and the recurring themes in their life stories. I believe the counselor and the client should work together to understand the narrative the client has been writing by identifying themes and tensions and trying to determine a plan for positive change.

I work in the metro-Vancouver area and I charge on a sliding scale depending on circumstances. An initial half hour phone consultation is free. Since I am a RCC most insurance plans will cover counselling fees. Sessions are usually $90-$110 per hour. Please e-mail me at s_sidsworth@hotmail.com to set up an appointment. Include your phone number in your e-mail so we can chat on the phone before we meet.
